Groundwater banking studies have involved the search for sites that have suitable soil and water delivery characteristics. One proposed site for a groundwater banking project is located adjacent to the Kings River near Highway 145, west of Fresno and south of Kerman. This site would hold approximately 200,000 acre-feet of water with both draw and recharge components.

Groundwater banking facilities have the potential to be integrated with other water supplies adjacent to the Kings River, such as Central Valley Project and State Water Project supplies.
