Pine Flat Power Plant
Since 1984, KRCD has successfully operated the Jeff L. Taylor Pine Flat Power Plant, providing reliable, low-cost power to the California Department of Water Resources for use in the State Water Projectís vital pumping facilities.
The plantís three units have a combined capacity of 165,000 kilowatts (165 megawatts) that generate an average annual energy output of 420 million kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable energy.
Located at the base of Pine Flat Dam, the power plant uses irrigation and flood control releases from Pine Flat Reservoir for electric power generation.
The Daily Report provides the latest data on the status of the reservoir, river and unit generation.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers owns and operates Pine Flat Dam. Constructed from 1949 to 1954 for the primary purpose of flood control, the dam also provides irrigation, power and recreational benefits.
