Malaga Peaking Plant
California’s electrical energy restructuring program has caused a great deal of confusion and uncertainty, but the need for reliable, affordable power has never been more important.
Late in 2002, KRCD was awarded the opportunity to construct and operate a 97-megawatt gas-fired peaking power plant, providing energy to some 97,000 homes. Under contract with the California Department of Water Resources, this plant reduces the strain on the Fresno area’s electrical system when power demands are at their peak.
