Public Participation

The California Energy Commission (CEC) permitting process guarantees the right of the public to participate in open discussion about the proposed power plant. Engaging in this discussion from the earliest stages helps to ensure questions are answered and addressed efficiently.

During the entire process, the CEC will hold six to eight public hearings and three to five public workshops. The public is highly encouraged to attend these meetings. The public has the opportunity to state their views orally or in writing. The CEC will enter the public comments into the record of the proceeding.

In addition, the CEC has "interest lists" for each project. Interested persons can sign up for these mailing lists on the CEC's List Server to receive notification of upcoming CEC meetings, workshops, hearings and site visits pertaining to the proposed power plant.
