Trout Stocking

KRCD has worked closely with the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) on trout egg planting along the river. Great care is taken in replicating natural reproduction conditions to deposit, protect and incubate the eggs.

Streamside incubators have been built and placed in several locations between Pine Flat Dam and Fresno Weir, northeast of Centerville. These incubators provide a safe environment from the elements and predators while carrying nutrients and fresh water to developing eggs.

Thousands of three- to five-inch rainbow trout are also planted each year at numerous Kings River sites below Pine Flat Dam.
